Week 9 Update: October 4 - October 8

Dear Wynn Families,

Please see what is happening this week below:

  • Students do not have school on Monday, October 4th due to Staff Development Day.

  • Teachers will be contacting families to sign up for parent-teacher conferences that will be held next week.  Please sign up by Thursday.

  • Progress reports will be sent home on Friday.  If you do not receive a progress report for your student, please contact the principal at [email protected]

  • Every year during the first week of October we celebrate the national Week of Respect and emphasize the importance of a safe and respectful environment at school. We will celebrate Week of Respect with a school-wide Spirit Week.  Please encourage your child to participate in this school-wide event. Below are the daily dress-up days!

    • Tuesday, October 5th:  “Hats off to kindness!” 

      • Wear your favorite hat!

    • Wednesday, October 6th:  “Put bullying to rest!” 

      • Wear your PJs!

    • Thursday, October 7th:  “Throw kindness around like confetti!” 

      • Wear bright colors!

    • Friday, October 8th:  “We are all on the same team!” 

      • Wear your red and blue Wynn ES colors or shirts!

  • Spread the Word Nevada’s recorded story times are back! Pura Belpre, Author-Librarian-Storyteller-Puppeteer, holds a special place in our hearts.  Ms. Anna honors the first Puerto Rican and Latina to work in the NYC Public Library.  Her work there brought books that showcased Latin culture.  After watching the recording, students can re-familiarize themselves with your Library Scavenger Hunt.

Estimadas Familias de Wynn,

Vea lo que está sucediendo esta semana a continuación:

  • Los estudiantes no tienen escuela el lunes 4 de octubre debido al Día de Desarrollo del Personal.

  • Los maestros se comunicarán con las familias para inscribirse en las conferencias de padres y maestros que se llevarán a cabo la próxima semana. Regístrese antes del jueves.

  • Los informes de progreso se enviarán a casa el viernes. Si no recibe un informe de progreso de su estudiante, comuníquese con el director en [email protected]

  • Cada año durante la primera semana de Octubre celebramos la Semana Nacional del Respeto y enfatizamos la importancia de un ambiente seguro y respetuoso en la escuela. Celebraremos la Semana de Respeto con una Semana del Espíritu en toda la escuela. Anime a su hijo a participar en este evento escolar. ¡Abajo están los días de disfraces diarios!

    • Martes 5 de Octubre: "¡Me quito el sombrero ante la bondad!"

      • ¡Usa tu sombrero favorito!

    • Miércoles 6 de Octubre: "¡Ponga fin al bullying!"

      • ¡Ponte tu pijama!

    • Jueves 7 de Octubre: "¡Lanza bondad como confeti!"

      • ¡Usa colores brillantes!

    • Viernes 8 de Octubre: "¡Estamos todos en el mismo equipo!"

      • ¡Use sus colores o camisas rojas y azules de Wynn ES!

  • Corre la voz ¡Los tiempos de cuentos registrados en Nevada están de vuelta! Pura Belpre, Autor-Bibliotecario-Narrador-Titiritero, ocupa un lugar especial en nuestros corazones. La Sra. Anna honra a la primera puertorriqueña y latina en trabajar en la Biblioteca Pública de la Ciudad de Nueva York. Su trabajo allí trajo libros que mostraban la cultura latina. Después de ver la grabación, los estudiantes pueden volver a familiarizarse con su búsqueda del tesoro de la biblioteca.
